Hi Edgar.  My husband is in his early 50s. He started going to gym 5 times a week.  He got fitter physically and lost weight – which is good =) However, his look (face) started to appear haggard and older than his age! Not that we are bothered by his appearance cos we (the family) really wanted him to remain healthy and physically fit! But sometimes we wondered if he should cut down the frequency of going to the gym. Sorry if this sounded really superficial! LoL

Interesting question! Please let address two things here: 1. Exercise, and 2. Appearance.

1. Exercise: Recent studies show that exercise almost a panacea for a lot of modern day lifestyle diseases and for longevity! So your husband should keep exercising!

2. Appearance: You say your husband seems to appear “older” and more “haggard” because of exercise. This might just be coincidental! There isn’t any known relationship between exercise with appearance that i’m aware of…

Finally, the health benefits of exercise far outweigh looks! My suggestion is to still keep doing what is healthy… :)
