Hi all:

My mum is going to run a 10K in December, and it will be her first ever long-distance run! We signed her up in an effort to get her to exercise more and build up her stamina/strength gradually.

Any tips to make the process more enjoyable & less intimidating for her? Thanks!

If she doesn’t exercise much, good to start with brisk walking, then slow jogs before actually going for runs. I signed up my first 10km Sundown run few years ago. I wasn’t an avid runner… but I started jogging at least twice a week to build some stamina so I wouldn’t suffer on the day of the run. It helped a lot! It’s good to start early. Anyway, my coach (signed up for a fitness class now) always tells me, your body will “hint” you if you push yourself too hard. Just take things easy and she’ll definitely have a good time!
