I would like to pursue further studies, but I am torn between a local university or going abroad. Should I base my decision on the field of study or budget?

Hmm, I don’t think the two criteria have to be mutually exclusive. It’s possible that you could find a programme that is very strong in your field of study and also has great financial aid/scholarship opportunities!

I suggest you research a list of different schools (local and overseas) that you’d be interested in attending for further studies, determine your top few most important factors (financial affordability, quality of academic programmes, networking opportunities, student life etc.) and rank them in order of importance to you and then rank each school on these factors. Looking at each school’s overall score according to the factors that are important to you, you should then be able to narrow down your top few most attractive options and focus your energies on applying to these institutions / searching for ways to finance your studies there. :)

Wishing you all the best in your applications!
